| Hi guys, So today I was just looking over the car before my alignment tomorrow and I noticed a weird black fiber dust everywhere. Long story short, It turns out that my timing belt is rubbing pretty heavily on the tensioner. Under further inspection it looks like the tensioner itself has collapsed. The motor was rebuilt 3k miles ago and all the timing parts are brand new oem parts. Everything was set properly and torqued properly Now my question is, would the loss of the tension cause the belt to push itself toward the back of the motor or is there a misalignment problem as well?
